Hi guys, new podcast is up.... This week I talk to the talented artist/Illustrator Mark Raats!
Mark is most known for his incredible illustrations for Lucas film and their licencees. We talk in-depth about his career and experiences, from the early days of animation to his recent poster work. Its a insightful conversation about all things art.
Marks a interesting guy with lots of great and unexpected stories. Mark's also got a great 'Drew Struzan' story, so be sure and listen that far at least :)

It's been a busy week. I’m not at a point where I can show off much of what I've been doing, but here’s something I've been working on for Ebay, Thorin Oakenshield. The pencil study’s already up for sale - Link
Hope you all enjoy the interview. Please comment and let me know what I’m doing right, or wrong, and what you’d like to see more of.
Thanks everyone and I’ll see you all on Monday

Great interview, Jeff! Mark is a very talented artist and it's good to see that he's a humble guy as well.
Hi I don't think it would be possible to keep me from fav'ing your new Thorin piece! Incredible! I love everything you create. Awesome!
Looking forward to hearing this. Raats is one of the greatest impressionist pop culture artists I've seen beside yourself and Struzan.
Hey Jeff. I noticed that you upload your process videos under the Education category on Youtube. Have you ever thought about putting it under the "How To" category? I've noticed that a good amount of art videos that have thousands of views are using that category. Just a thought.
Cheers for the head's up mate and thanks for being so generous in sharing the interview.. chatting to you was great. My apologies for blabbering on and for repeating myself so much, I guess my tiny brain was a little wooly given the hour and the fact that I had just come back from a terrific family dinner.
I noted a few errors in some of the dates I gave. The AVL Starburst I mentioned in the early part of the interview was not in 1995 as I said but in 1985 and my first digital work was done back in '84 and 85.
Thanks again mate. I enjoyed it immensely and I hope others do as well!.
High regards
MARK
Great piece .
Great interview with a fellow South African artist! What an inspiration!
It is also great to have stumbled upon your work too! Great work!!
Great interview. I think the most powerful thing Mark mentioned was about planning, a key to better work. Overall lots of good advise.
Hi Jeff,
I've been watching Mark Raats as a fellow South Africa for a while and thoroughly enjoyed your interview! I found out a lot of stuff both about Mark and also about your industry, which as a journalist/ex-broadcast type, I knew a tiny bit about, but of course it's a whole different movie!
Also, as someone who can't draw to save my life (my limit is stick men) I can really appreciate the great work both of you guys do!
Also, I'd say keep up the interviews and don't give up if people don't respond or whatever, you'll find it does grow, especially if you target it, say for dA, or perhaps artists, or whichever target group.
Good luck!
Jeff,
Been so busy - finally had a chance to listen to the podcast - LOVED IT! - Was so cool to hear Mark's stories...
Nice job my friend!

Great chat. Lovely to hear from you guys and love the channel. I can really relate with having to find time to fit in art around other work, such is an artists life! Anyway, keep inspiring us.
