Blank Sketch Cover - Batman #0, fresh out of the box. The client bought this comic on eBay, and had the seller send it directly to me.
I start with a detailed graphite drawing, and then do an under-painting in black & grey paint.
I paint the cover in acrylic paint and colored pencil. I only use high quality materials that will stand the test of time.
Most paintings take me three to five days to complete. As I work, I frequently email the client with progress pictures to let them know where I'm at and how things are going. I also feature the painting on my blog & video artcasts. Its a cool thing to see your commission being created right before your eyes.
Here I'm adding the finishing touches and signing the cover.
The finished product ... An officially published DC comic, customized into a 'one of a kind' and highly collectible, piece of original artwork.
