Friday, May 30th, 2014

Hi everyone ... Today I worked on a rough for a new Wolverine commission and then 'for fun' drew a UrRu from the movie, Dark Crystal.

You could call yourself an Artist on (or in) demand I suppose, that's the way we live these days. There is a market for people that want to buy really cool art, at good prices from an artists collection of work they enjoy, and you meet that demand.

The cool thing as you say is the internet allows you to broaden your scope and find even more great artwork. Also yes I believe Con call ups still happen David Marquez (sp?) who currently works on Ultimate Spider-man was discovered that way.

Anyway thanks for this video, I sat here drawing a Rocky vs Clubber picture and just chilled out listening to you talk and glancing at the video from time to time. Great work and from one small business owner to another good luck.

Regards

Kieran

don't stress about the drew struzan comparison ...drew is a genius and is basically Mozart and theres no getting around that so......his legacy is out there like fuckin pluto man...I mean , hes out there man ...I suffer this torment aswell but all we can do is stay passionate and keep developing....the fucker came up with a style... like rock n roll, metal, or rap , or jazz.......its a young style that works right across the board . everybody likes it . its like an evolution that he (if you go off the portfolio timelines) he built off Richard Amsels technique .if you really study history that's what appears the dinosaur fossils suggest . that 3 stage painting goes right down the history books aswell....If memory serves ......even drew says this... regarding the old masters techniques ......so, its nothing new .....the airbrush tint is what distinguishes that second stage look and makes it so pleasing . ofcourse you know that. the average person is completely oblivious to this and that's what makes these illustrations so romantic and elegant ......it was water color tint way before the airbrush delicateness tint ....so dont stress. Drew gave that gift to the world and its out there for the world to enjoy and build on now.....keep going . your work is brilliant and will go way up in value if you make yourself famous. the radio show thing youre doing will work

Great stuff Jeff. Do you have any videos of your original pencil work? I love watching your painting and pencil rendering, but those bottom layer pencils are always so very tough for me, and I love to watch other great artists draw

stuponitron ... In the future I'll try and do a video starting at a blank sheet of paper, this is the second or third question I've gotten, so obviously people a curious about the start.

Thanks for the input!

You definitely have the skills to make this a full-time job!
The biggest challenge is meeting deadlines and taking client critique.

I wish you the best of luck; it's the right path to follow.

What I love about this one (despite the freakin' SWEET Wolverine drawing) is that you sound so *happy* Jeff!

Watching your VBlogs this past week/10 days has been fascinating as you think out loud and share your thoughts on life. As someone who would like to break free of the 9-5 office job at some point in the future, you're proving to be a great source of inspiration.

And I can honestly say I've never been compared to James Bond but I like it! haha
