Artcast #283 Surviving The Throne Crack

Tuesday, December 15th, 2015

Hi all ... I felt like doing two artcasts this week, so here's the second one. In this video I'm painting a new nude piece and talking about a weird experience at work that involved rock climbing.

Nude piece for sale here ... Buy The Original Artwork

Thanks everyone and see you next time.

Hearing the struggles of other artists somehow make it easier for me. Things get tough. But it also gets better. At least that's what i hope for...

+Salem Shanouha Definitely, thank you very much for the comment

those old stuff were actually good! I mean if you consider the timeframe (90's) also, those were really up to date, especially the Milleresque ones. At least I would buy a comic looking like this. I always appreciated good black and white comics more than colored ones. I really hated those early computer colored overworked ones, with all these gradients and flashes just because it was easy to do it with photoshop.

+joe k I agree, didn't like a lot of the early computer coloring. Thanks Joe

+Jeff Lafferty I really think that it would be a good idea for you to illustrate a short story. You know nothing really complicated but dressed up with illustartions that makes you want to know more about the world it unfolds in. Then make a nice ebook and sell it. You are already producing fantasy art, find a subject and work on it for a couple of months. In the end you will have original art which you can sell as always and also a mini story in your own style to also sell and maybe, people will want more. You never know. I know that comic/graphic novel market is full of stuff, but I think that there is a niche crowd out there thirsting for quality work. You know, more of the european style with emphasis to art. For example check ''Requiem Chevalier Vampire'' by Olivier Ledroit and Pat Mills (the guy that invented Slain, ABC Warriors, Judge Dredd etc). Its all in gouache and acrylics i think, and the art is mindblowing. I mean the story is great too but I could buy it only to gaze at the art.
