The Wolf's Heart - Production Diary #21 Talking About Animation

Monday, November 21st, 2016

Hi all, I was watching my animation today and decided to record my thoughts. I haven't rewatched the episode since I put it out few months ago, and it was interesting looking at it with fresh eyes.

Thanks everyone and see you next time

I loved this video Jeff. It was good to have you look back on the project and share your thoughts, Great recap, hopefully you will be in a position to do some more stop motion real soon.

Hi been a while ,project looks fantastic.I spoke some time ago to you Jeff about using the lens hood on your project to give you a better contrast through out the the film for continuity ie ,low contrast to high contrast within one camera move.
As I watched ,only looking for changes in contrast ,I noticed that with light being very close to behind the camera it appears to have a greater contrast than some of the other shots .
I would suggest that if possible with edit program take the shot at 49 sec in to 1 min. and bring up the contrast settings, and look at where the dark and light values are ,if possible compare them .If possible clip the contrast of the still at 58 sec to match closer, not exact to the curve or contrast of the following scene .so that the jump in contrast is not as wide.
All in all it look's like you have done an amazing job all the best and much luck.cheers
P.s I'm betting you did not use the lens hood ,lol .

Thanks for the feedback Manuel. I did forget about the lens hood, though I intended to get one.

Love your videos, mate. There's always some inspiration to be taken away, even when you're berating yourself! You always seem slightly sad though, I hope that's not the case. Chin up and keep on keeping on! Lovin' your work, man. :)

Jeff Lafferty said...

Thanks Liam, I don't feel sad too often though, so no worries there man.

Lol very true, I wish I could have the youtube money pile be dropped down on me but I think its only a weird select few who get that which is weird cause I find the better artists are the ones who dont make shit off of youtube. -- I would still love more animation but not if it costs you an arm and a leg to produce.

Hey Jeff what field did you go for in college?

Jeff Lafferty said...

I went for commercial art, but I didn't stay in long, only about a semester. The school wasn't a good fit for me. What about you, did you go to college anywhere?

Jeff Lafferty yes sir I am currently going to college. I want to study 3-D animation and take what I learned and make stop motion films. I'm honestly debating on going to film school after I major in 3-D but we'll see.
