HOBBIT SKETCH CARD & NEW INTERVIEW

Saturday. June 22nd, 2013

Hi everyone ... Long time, no see.

I've been getting use to the new job & new schedule ... and slowly things a becoming manageable again.

I recently finished this Thorin Oakenshield sketch card I was working on a while back.

Both the painted card - Link and pencil study - Link are currently for sale on eBay, have a look if your interested..

If your interested in pre-ordering the upcoming print, here’s a link - Thorin Oaken shield $7.99
(The prints will be ready to ship at the end of June)

I've defiantly been missing doing my podcast, but recently I was interviewed on my good friend Peter Palmiotti’s show ‘The Independent Road

It was a lot of fun and ended up being a two part’er, so I’ll post next weeks show when its up. Give it a listen, and hopefully it will tide over the fans of my show, until I get my act together again.

See you guys next time.
- Jeff

Sir, your skills are still awesome and I'm amazed by them as always. Just by curiosity, but will you ever make a Micheal Jackson sketch card?

Raymo ... Thanks for the comment. I can see the Jesus resemblance, or at least a resemblance to what most peoples perception of what Jesus looked like.

~KazumaAkimitsu ... Thank you! I'm not sure, if I did paint Micheal Jackson, it would probably be because it was a request for a job, or a commission. Not cause I don't like him or anything like that, its just that I'm more inspired by the movie stuff than the music side of things.

Great look. Lots a visual motion in a still portrait, especially the eyes.

Great portrait, Jeff. Like the limited palette. Makes it very powerful.

Jeff, your portrait style is inspiring. This is gorgeous. I love the look in his eye (& it sure didn't make me think of Jesus).

Fantastic work, sir. The likeness is quite accurate and I love the tones you used. The umber-ish browns and slight streaks of dull green in his hair and beard really bring out the ruddy presence of the dwarf king. Very nice job.

Excellent technique! I have one tiny gripe - his left eye is higher than his right eye and it throws the whole thing off for me. I know it's an easy fix in photoshop, but if you're anything like me you hate doing that. Really great work - I hate to even mention the one error.

Zaingerr ... They are colored pencils. The brand I use is Prisma Color and also Col-Erase. I'm drawing over thin acrylic paint washes applied with an airbrush.
